The Big Story: Battling Cancer During a Pandemic

Living with cancer is hard enough. A pandemic makes matters worse.

In a recent piece for The Atlantic, staff writer Caitlin Flanagan discusses what it has been like to live with Stage IV cancer during a pandemic. “I belong to the group of people—the infirm, the weak—who certain conservatives have said should offer themselves up to the coronavirus,” she writes. “I’m part of the ‘cure’ that mustn’t be worse than ‘the problem,’ according to Donald Trump.”

Flanagan joined deputy editor Ross Andersen for a live conversation about her experience with cancer and how the pandemic has affected her outlook.
